Tapestry Weaving and Textile Classes
Learn to create hand woven tapestry or embroidery for fun and artistic expression.

I have been teaching tapestry weaving and textile design for over 10 years, having completed the post-graduate diploma in tapestry weaving at West Dean College in 1997. I am a qualified adult education teacher.

Introduction to Tapestry weaving - beginners and improvers
Tapestry weaving surgery – trouble-shooting and inspiration
Shaped tapestry (some weaving experience required) - Learn some of the techniques for making non-rectangular tapestries, 3-D work and texture
Textile design - I am also able to offer help with design of textile art projects in stitch, knit, felt, print etc. Please contact me to discuss your requirements.
Crewel embroidery - medieval-style crewel embroidery workshops, based on the Bayeux Tapestry and other works.

Regular classes in Lewes

Introduction to Tapestry weaving and Design, various days to suit 10am - 4.30pm (beginners and improvers). Historical and modern techniques taught. Up to four participants to maximise individial attention. Cost £60 per day, £30 half-day, including some materials. Please contact for dates.

I have produced an online tapestry project for schools with the Heritage Crafts Association and Farming & Countryside Education.

I have designed a children's weaving kit in association with weaversbazaar.
